about

‘TLGHPS’ (The Lee Garden Historical Preservation Society) is the newest project from legendary Toronto based production duo, Gremlinz & Jesta, partnered with lifelong friend and pioneering Toronto DJ, Lush.

The name is derived from a running joke, started by Lush, to use as a mysterious moniker replacing ‘Gremlinz & Jesta’, when asked about their tunes he would play, to thwart trainspotters from bothering them for their dubs. Intended as a playful dig on their obsession with the Toronto, China Town, culinary institution and their devastation at its sudden closing in 2018, the name stuck, and as with many inside jokes amongst groups of friends, became recognized canon amongst the crew.

While rooted in banter, the ethos of the imprint shares the same no compromise, forward thinking insistence on innovation prevalent in Gremlinz & Jesta’s maverick productions. An aesthetic that will be adhered to from release to release.

The same origin story applies to TLGHPS’s humorously titled offshoot, ‘Shark With Laser On Head Recordings’. The manifestation of a 20 year old ‘Toronto Jungle’ message board joke which spawned hours of shit-posting, burner account discourse and even a Gremlinz produced track to continue the joke more tangibly.

Contemporary Jungle flagbearer, Tim Reaper, inaugurates the Big Bad Shark with “The Orbit”, before teaming up with Motor City beat smith NVious on the shimmering amen lash of “Quincy".

Meanwhile on TLGHPS, Analias’s hazy sound blurs across the spectrum of the Hardcore Continuum, informed by all the sub strains of UK Bass music from slow chugging house grooves to RnB-tinged broken Garage, and on to clinical, yet tempered, Drum & Bass. TLGHPS is incredibly happy to help amplify this phenomenal artist to the world.

Both will always be presented as a bundle offering, reflecting the full spectrum of our auditory ethos..
